THE MAILMAN LOOKS TO PROVIDE SPECIAL DELIVERY FOR APEX ONE

Defunct licensed apparel and footwear brand Apex One is
"being revived" by PA-based KPR Sports, according to Terry
Lefton in BRANDWEEK. KPR has signed Jazz star Karl Malone
and Mavs rookie Samaki Walker as spokespeople. The players
could wear the Apex brand "as soon as this week." A line of
$40-65 Apex basketball, cross-trainers, and tennis shoes are
"due to ship" in mid-March, with Sass, NY, print ads rolling
at the same time. Signature shoes for Malone and Walker
will debut with the '97-98 NBA season, supported by print,
outdoor, "and, possibly," TV spots. Apex apparel will be
shown at February's Super Show and shipped in the fall. KPR
Sports President Michael Rubin: "We're positioning Apex as a
moderately priced performance athletic brand in apparel,
footwear and accessories and we got some players to add
     legitimacy and excitement" (BRANDWEEK, 11/25).
