IT'S ALL ONE BIG PARTY: PAYNE TELLS IOC ACOG IN THE BLACK

ACOG CEO Billy Payne reported to the IOC that the ACOG will
close its books next summer with a "slight profit," according to
Melissa Turner of the ATLANTA CONSTITUTION. The surplus from the
Games will be less than $10M, and the money will be divided four
ways, with the IOC getting half, the USOC getting 25% and ACOG
and the city of Atlanta splitting the other 25%. Payne: "We
reported conclusively that the financial matters with respect to
the Atlanta Games are essentially over. We have met our goal,
which was to break even, and we will probably have a very small
amount leftover." ACOG continues to collect revenue as NBC has
made a final payment of $18M to ACOG for its share in advertising
sales over $615M (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 11/15). Also, ACOG will
receive money from auctions of Games equipment and final
royalties on licensing deals that expire at the end of the year
(Mike Dodd, USA TODAY, 11/15).
