Dick Evans, the new Huizenga Sports & Entertainment Group
CEO, is profiled by Barry Jackson of the MIAMI HERALD under the
header, "He Finds Green In The Fields of Dreams." Evans will
oversee operations of the Dolphins, Marlins, Panthers, Pro Player
Stadium, Front Row Communications (manages SportsChannel),
Homestead Metro-Dade Motorsports Complex and the Panthers new
Sunrise Arena. Evans: "I'm a team player. I will work with the
guys who run the various businesses. My role is to help them get
their jobs done. My job is not to run the franchises -- that's
what they are doing. My job is to oversee those businesses and
help them reach their objectives" (MIAMI HERALD, 11/15).
DOWN GOES PUCK: Writing the "message from Wall Street this
week seems to be that fans are happy just to stay in the
bleachers with a hot dog and a beer," Tom Lowry of USA TODAY
notes that shares in "PUCK" -- the NHL Panthers -- dropped
another 75 cents yesterday in its second day of open trading to
close at 10 1/4. Lowry: "That's not exactly a hat-trick
performance" (USA TODAY, 11/15).
