IMG IN CYBER SAND TRAP WITH TIGER WOODS' WEB SITE

Tiger Woods' representatives at IMG are trying to capitalize
on his popularity by creating his official web site at
http://www.tigerwoods.com, according to Bob Cook in CRAIN'S
CLEVELAND BUSINESS. However, on the Internet, IMG doesn't own
the "tigerwoods" name. Ted Dedolph, of Ft. Collins, CO, controls
the rights to the www.tigerwoods.com domain, and he hopes to use
this advantage to give a friend's company a shot at designing
IMG's web page for Woods. Dedolph wants IMG to invest $100,000
to a venture capital fund he's forming that would invest in golf-
related companies. If IMG isn't interested in a business
venture, Dedolph said he would sell the domain for $100 -- what
he paid for acquiring the name from InterNIC, the private agency
that distributes domain names. IMG VP Mike Bidwell said they
have not decided whether to press Dedolph to give up the name,
but IMG expects the site to premiere in two or three months
(CRAIN'S CLEVELAND BUSINESS, 11/4 issue).
