O-RENA FINISHED IN THE RED LAST YEAR, EVEN WITH SHAQ

The Orlando Arena lost more money "than ever" last year,
despite playing host to a record number of games and shows,
according to Dan Tracy of the ORLANDO SENTINEL. The O-rena
finished more than $620,000 "in the red" on operations. Annual
debt payments for the $110M facility added another $1.8M to the
deficit covered by Orlando taxpayers. Among reasons for the
loss: No rent for the Solar Bears hockey team; electricity
charges up more than $268,000; and additional labor cost of
almost $200,000 for switching the arena floor for different
events. With the Magic, the city splits profits on concessions
and receives nothing for novelties (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 11/10).
