While plans to build soccer's first international Hall of
Fame "solidify," a variety of related TV, marketing and
sponsorship opportunities are "crystallizing as well," according
to Langdon Brockinton of INSIDE MEDIA. Atlanta-based
International Sports & Entertainment Concepts (ISEC), together
with FIFA, have "struck an agreement" with Disney to erect the
International Football Hall of Champions at Disneyland Paris. In
addition, an deal between ISEC and Greenwich, CT-based
International Sports and Entertainment Strategies (ISES) has
generated plans to create not only an annual worldwide TV show
commemorating the new Hall of Fame inductees, but also an
interactive FanFest and a global marketing program enabling
customers to cast votes for Hall choices -- "all with sponsorship
tie-ins." ISES is in talks only with FIFA's world sponsors:
Coca-Cola, GM, McDonald's, A-B, Gillette, Philips Consumer
Electronics, Fuji, JVC, Mars, MasterCard, Cannon and adidas.
Eventually ISES also will approach advertisers that have links
with Disney to gauge their interest. ISES expects to sign "three
or four" founding partners by mid-'97 (INSIDE MEDIA, 10/30
issue).
