TICKET NEWS & NOTES: CUBS, MARINERS GO ON A HIKE

The Cubs will raise prices on Wrigley Field seats for 64
"prime games" in '97 by $2 each, except for upper deck reserved
seats. Cubs Ticket Dir Frank Maloney: "When you increase your
player budget ... you sit down and decide what you have to get
out of your tickets at payroll. ... This was a group decision"
(Mike Kiley, CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 10/29).
MARINERS: The Mariners announced an increase in ticket
prices for the '97 season. 100-level Box seats will be priced at
$22, up from $20. 100-level Field seats will increase $2 to $20.
Club seats on the 200-level will increase $3 to $18. The 300-
level View seats have been increased by $1 and $2. Outfield
Reserved seats will increase $1 to $8 (Mariners). A deal between
the Mariners and the B.C. Pavilion Corp. in which the Mariners
would play six regular season games at B.C. Place is "off" due to
the lack of a new MLB CBA (Vancouver PROVINCE, 10/29).
SPURS: The Spurs and San Antonio Express-News have joined
on a promotion which will open the Alamodome's upper-deck seating
for the team's home opener Sunday. All this week, Spurs fans
will be able to redeem coupons found in the Express-News for up
to four $5 upper-deck seats. The newspaper will sponsor 20 Family
and Friends nights during the season in which tickets, parking,
food and beverages will be provided for $62 (SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-
NEWS, 10/26).
