     Nolan Ryan appeared in a full-page ad in the Houston
Chronicle asking voters to say "yes" to Proposition 1, the
stadium referendum.  The text under Ryan's photo: "This isn't a
pitch for the Astros.  It's for our future" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE,
10/28)....The Pistons saw the new floor at The Palace of Auburn
Hills.  The court, which cost "in the neighborhood of" $75,000
and includes the new logo at center court and teal and red inside
the free-throw circle and lane (DETROIT NEWS, 10/29)....A Tourism
Toronto survey showed that 2.8 million people visited Toronto
last year to attend sports events, with one in 10 of the 20
million city visitors attending a Blue Jays game (Vancouver
PROVINCE, 10/29)...Mavericks Owner Ross Perot, Jr., on his plans
for a new sports complex in Dallas.  Perot: "Dallas is waiting to
hear from me. [but] ... It's too important to rush.  It's too
important to have artificial deadlines" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM,
10/28)....NFL facilities consultant Rick Horrow will go to the
NFL owners meeting in New Orleans with Vikings President Roger
Headrick.  They will report to the NFL's stadium committee on the
Vikings wish for Metrodome improvements or a new stadium
(Minneapolis STAR-TRIBUNE, 10/29)....NBBJ, the Columbus, OH,
architectural and design firm, was chosen by Hamilton County to
design the $160M 70,000-seat proposed stadium for the Bengals
along the Cincinnati riverfront (CINCINNATI BUSINESS FIRST,
10/28).
