IT'S DEMO-RIFIC: NFL PROPERTIES LOOKS AT FEMALE MARKET

NFL Properties' "experiment" in targeting women through
test-marketing a line of team merchandise geared toward female
fans in a limited number of department stores around the country
was examined by CNN's Sean Callebs. NFL Dir Worldwide Marketing
Jim Connelly: "It's a small test, admittedly. The merchandise
has sold through extremely fast for the retailer, and we are very
optimistic this will be a major new initiative and push for us
going forward." Callebs notes with the start of two women's
basketball leagues and "stiff competition" in women's athletic
footwear, sports marketers say "it only makes sense the NFL is
showing its feminine side" ("Moneyline," CNN, 10/25).
