SEARCH FOR PARKING SPACES IN BALTIMORE

In keeping with their lease requirements, which call for
providing 4,000 parking spaces for the Ravens and 3,000 for the
Orioles, the Maryland Stadium Authority (MSA) is "deep" in
negotiations with property owners near Camden Yards to expand
parking areas around the facilities, according to Jon Morgan in
the Baltimore SUN. Since construction began on the new football
stadium, an estimated 2,200 of about 5,000 spaces will be
permanently lost. MSA Exec Dir Bruce Hoffman: "Our desire is to
get back to 5,000 as quickly as possible." Included in the $200M
budget for a Ravens stadium, $10M is marked for the acquisition
of land or construction of a parking deck (Baltimore SUN, 10/26).
