     Carlton Gamble, the Gillette Strike Zone contestant from
Brighton, AL, will have a chance to win $1M before the World
Series game tonight if he can throw a baseball from the mound
into a 30x18 inch target at home plate.  Fox will televise the
Gillette Strike Zone Challenge live (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL,
10/23).  ABC's "Good Morning America" interviewed Gamble from
Fulton-County Stadium this morning.  Gamble was chosen out of
approximately 3 million contestants and likens his chances
hitting the target at "50-50" ("GMA," ABC, 10/23)....Hewlett-
Packard have signed to be title sponsor of the '97 International
Women's Challenge cycling event (H-P)....In Chicago, columnist
Phil Rosenthal comments on the World Series logo on Braves and
Yankees uniforms and hats: "Not only does the logo make it look
like the Yankees and Braves went to some second-rate souvenir
stand to complete their uniforms, it desecrates the classically
simple navy-and-white N.Y. hats, one of the sports true icons"
(CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 10/23).
