WARRIORS TICKET SALES DRAWING NOTHING BUT AIR?

Despite adding 900 new season-ticket holders for the
upcoming season, the Warriors have sold "just slightly more" than
10,000-season tickets for its home schedule at San Jose Arena,
according to Adam Feuerstein of the SAN FRANCISCO BUSINESS TIMES.
The team is playing in San Jose for the '96-97 season while
Oakland Coliseum undergoes major renovations. Warriors officials
"insist" the team will surpass last year's sales total, but admit
about 10% of the team's loyal fans "aren't riding the team's
South Bay caravan." Warriors Dir of Marketing Jim Rogers: "Our
decision to play in San Jose ... has not been met with 100
percent approval from some of our fans." Feuerstein notes that
many fans are also "angry" about a team policy that would have
them lose priority for seating at Oakland Coliseum if they choose
not to renew for this season. The Warriors have also experienced
difficulties converting old seat locations into the different
configuration of San Jose Arena (SAN FRANCISCO BUSINESS JOURNAL,
10/21 issue).
