MLB's marketing/advertising opportunities with the World

Ave." column. Marketers still consider the World Series a "good"
ad buy at $250,000-300,000 per 30-second spot. For the Series,
ad experts say MLB and Fox should "showcase" the "sensitive,
emotional sides of players to offset resentment" from the '94

traffic on the Major Deegan Expressway last night, got out of his
limo, and walked to Yankee Stadium (NEWSDAY, 10/21)....Fox Sports
wanted Paul Simon to sing the national anthem, but Yankees Owner
George Steinbrenner "vetoed" it. Steinbrenner rejected Placido
Domingo from singing before Game Two (Baltimore SUN,
10/21)....HBO's "Arli$$," Robert Wuhl, was at Yankee Stadium
yesterday getting footage with Braves P Tom Glavine, President
Stan Kasten and GM John Schuerholz. Kasten to Wuhl: "It cracks
me up because so many people think your show is satire. Line
after line, it's the truth" (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 10/21)...For
the first time since '91, World Series baseballs have the
signature of Interim Commissioner Bud Selig (USA TODAY, 10/21).
