CABLEVISION INCREASES STAKE IN MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

Cablevision has paid "nearly" $81.3M to "raise its stake" in
Madison Square Garden LP, the partnership of Cablevision and ITT
Corp. that owns MSG, according to Richard Dalton of NEWSDAY. By
making regularly scheduled payments through March '97,
Cablevision can acquire half of the partnership with ITT Corp.
Cablevision's current stake is 26.6%, up from 15.2%. If
Cablevision fails to make a regular scheduled payment, "it could
lose its right to own half the entity" (NEWSDAY, 10/19)
SALES ARE HOT: MSG Exec VP Joe Cohen says that 80% of MSG
Network's pro hockey and basketball ad inventory has been
"accounted for." Cohen said they were 70% sold at this time last
year and that pricing levels have increased "15 percent, at a
minimum." New sponsors: Fannie Mae, Poland Springs and Bob's
Stores (INSIDE MEDIA ONLINE, 10/18).
