     TONIGHT ON ARLI$$: Rocky Framaggio, "the Big Cheese," slugs
his way into our hearts.  As a kid, Arliss idolized the Hall of
Fame outfielder, so much so that he still carries the Rock's
rookie card.  And now, after a chance meeting at the racetrack,
Arliss decides to help the down-trodden Rock "make some scratch,"
and get back on his feet.  But after the  Rock strikes out at
three job attempts, Arliss comes up with a marketing stroke of
genius.  Ken Howard stars as Rocky Framaggio.  Also guest
appearances by Dick Stockton and the voice of Phil Rizzuto (THE
DAILY).
     NEWS AND NOTES: The Vancouver-based sports weekly "Sports
Only" has folded.  "Sports Only" was launched last October when
Ted Rogers of Rogers Communications was the majority shareholder
in the Toronto Sun newspaper (TORONTO SUN, 10/16).....Cowboys G

(CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 10/16). ..In yesterday's listing of top ten
cable telecasts for the week ending October 2, the number three
rated telecast was the Braves-Dodgers on ESPN on Wednesday,
October 2, with 3,142,000 viewers (THE DAILY).
