     As part of a legal settlement, Reebok Int'l has paid the
state of MD almost $150,000 to help finance youth clubs and
renovate athletic facilities.  The money is part of a $9.5M price
fixing settlement with all 50 states (Baltimore SUN,
10/16)....McDonald's NBA 2ball, the first-ever youth basketball
participation program for Mexico, is conducting state
championship competition throughout Mexico, which started October
9, and runs until October 19.  The grass roots basketball program
for boys and girls, ages 9-17, is coordinated between the NBA,
CONADE (National Sports Commission) and CONDEBA (National Sports
Council of Basic Education) (NBA)....Coca-Cola and PepsiCo
released their quarterly earnings on the same day for the first
time in more than 20 years.  PepsiCo sales were up 2.9% but net
income was down 76.7% from the year ago period.  Coca-Cola
revenue was down 4.9%, but net income was up 20.6% over the year
ago period.  Glenn Collins writes in the N.Y. TIMES, "Both
companies reported disappointing quarters" (N.Y. TIMES,
10/16)....Hugh Carnegy writes in the FINANCIAL TIMES that Masters
Int'l will pay  $19.6M for Amer's MacGregor Golf Company
(FINANCIAL TIMES, 10/16).
