CABLEVISION TO SELL RSN INTEREST TO LIBERTY IN KEY CITIES?

Cablevision Systems Corp., parent of Rainbow Programming
Holdings, is in talks with TCI to "win increased distribution for
its Bravo and American Movie Classics channel on TCI cable
systems in exchange for selling its interest in three regional
sports networks to Liberty Media," according to Michael Burgi of
MEDIAWEEK. Rainbow is in discussions to sell SportsChannel
Chicago, San Francisco and Philadelphia that it jointly owns with
Liberty. They would become part of Fox/Liberty's group of RSNs
that will make up Fox Sports Net to debut November 1. Burgi
reports Fox/Liberty is said to be eyeing other RSNs, including
PASS in Detroit, NESN in Boston and Empire Sports Net, to become
Fox Sports affils (MEDIAWEEK, 10/7 issue).
