OLY, OLY AUCTION FREE: BIG MONEY AT GARDEN PARTY

     A crowd "estimated at 3,000" paid $25 to attend the Boston
Garden auction Friday night, with one person paying $15,000 for a
Bobby Orr vintage '72-73 game jersey (Bob Ryan, BOSTON GLOBE,
9/28).  Memorabilia prices ranged from $40,000 for the main
scoreboard to $1 for press cards, with $25 being paid for a sign
that read "To The Rest Rooms" (David Talbot, BOSTON HERALD,
9/29).  Among items from the auction: an autographed mop, signed
by Spider Edwards, who mopped the Garden floor for more than 30
years ($1,600); a used mouthpiece of Cam Neely's ($550); a used
Garden zamboni ($15,000); ticket stubs ($1,600); Garden sawdust
($300); trash can ($200) (ESPN, 9/29).
