WHAT ABOUT YOU, PETER? GAMMONS SPECULATES ON COMMISSIONER

     During an ESPNET SportsZone chat on shortening the MLB
season, Peter Gammons was asked his thoughts on MLB's next
commissioner.  Gammons: "No one knows what the next commissioner
will do.  Some feel it should be an ambassador, some feel it
should be a businessman. ... The perfect man in my opinion would
be [Portland Seadogs Owner and ex-Chair Cap Cities] Dan Burke."
Gammons also mentioned TX Gov. George Bush, former Democratic
Party Chair Paul Kirk and Blue Jays President Paul Beeston
(ESPNET SportsZone, 9/26).

has the header, "No Peace Yet (Yawn) In Baseball."  It concludes:
"Players and owners should comprehend by now that they betrayed
America's historic love affair with the game.  When the White Sox
... can't come close to filling Comiskey Park, there is something
seriously wrong.  Everyone seems to understands that but the
