     The Fox News channel signed deals with Continental
Cablevision and Comcast for carriage on the third and fourth
largest cable operators (INSIDE MEDIA, 9/26)....The $400,000 cost
of a 30-second spot on "Monday Night Football" ranks fifth on the
most expensive prime-time shows on TV.  Top four: "Seinfeld"
($550,000); "ER" ($500,000); "Home Improvement ($455,000) and
"Friends" ($450,000) (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL,
9/25)....Nielsen Media Research will begin metered market service
in Memphis, TN on April 24, 1997 for the beginning of the May
measurement.  The addition of Salt Lake, Columbus, New Orleans
and now Memphis, will bring the total number of Nielsen metered
markets to 37 by May '97 (Nielsen Media Research)....The Flyers
preseason game tonight will be available for free on Philadelphia
cable systems.  The broadcast is part of a three-game package the
Flyers offered to cable operators to distribute on basic cable.
The team is reportedly close to an extension with the PRISM cable
network (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 9/26). ...The Richmond Rage of
the ABL, the women's pro basketball league, have signed a local
radio deal with WTVR for 17 of their 20 regular season games
(RICHMOND TIMES DISPATCH, 9/26)....SI For Kids and its publisher,
Cleary Simpson, are profiled in CRAIN'S NEW YORK BUSINESS.  Since
the beginning of the year, SI For Kids ad revenues have grown 26%
to $9.5M and its ad pages are up 23% to 259.  It now has a rate
base of 950,000 subscriptions (CRAIN'S NEW YORK BUSINESS, 9/23).
