MEDIA NOTES

     NBC will offer Intercast content with the broadcast of NFL
football for one game a week.  This will allow viewers to watch
TV on their PC's while viewing Web pages and other data
simultaneously. Part of the NFL Intercast includes digital
playbooks and up--to-the-minute stats.  It begins with the with
Broncos-Chiefs on Sunday (NBC)....Motorola subsidiary Embarc has
signed a deal with AirTouch Paging  which will offer its ESPNet
To Go wireless sports service to AirTouch's 2.6 million
subscribers.  AirTouch, one of the larger paging carries in the
U.S., is the fist nationwide carrier to offer ESPNet To Go
(Motorola)....The Marquee Group will produce two 30-minute
telecasts for the Outdoor Life Channel from the '96 Surfrider
Beach Pro-Am Championship in Malibu, CA (Marquee Group)....Former
MLB umpire Dave Pallone has filed a slander suit in Suffolk, MA
Superior Court against Boston radio station WEEI, its parent
American Radio Systems and on-air personalities Glenn Ordway,
Steve Lyons and Gerry Callahan, claiming that comments made on
the station have "damaged the reputation of the openly gay"
former umpire (BOSTON GLOBE, 9/18).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
