JACKIE JOYNER-KERSEE signed a one-year contract with a one-
year option to play for the ABL Richmond Rage, whose inaugural
season will begin October 18. Joyner-Kersee will also represent
the league in promotional appearances, TV broadcasts and
marketing efforts. Due to commitments, she is expected to play
in 28-35 of the team's 40 games (ABL). Terms of Joyner-Kersee's
contract were not announced. However, the league's salary
structure calls for Olympic athletes to receive $125,000 a year
