THAT'S WHY THEY CALL THEM THE BLUES: TV UNCLEAR IN ST. LOUIS

The Blues' broadcast situation remains unsettled just two
weeks before the first radio game of the season is scheduled to
air, according to Dan Caesar in the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH. The
blues sold their TV rights this season to Prime Sports, which can
televise up to 65 games. Prime plans to show 35 games on its
cable outlet and has sold 10 games to local KMOV-TV and two to
KTVI-TV. This means that only 12 locally-produced games will be
seen on free TV, 29 fewer than last season on KPLR-TV. Sources
tell Caesar that Prime "has been pushing" to get up to 10 more
games on local carrier, KDNL-TV, but Programming Dir Mark
Culbertson said it is difficult to clear time for hockey because
the station is an ABC affiliate (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 9/13).
