BUCS GET OK FROM GOVERNMENT ON STADIUM LEASE

The Tampa City Council, as well as the Tampa Sports
Authority, approved the lease with the Bucs on a new stadium,
according to Joe Henderson of the TAMPA TRIBUNE The council voted
4-2 to approve the 187-page document although several members
"openly complained that they hadn't had enough time to study it.
Councilman Scott Paine, who voted to approve the lease, still
predicts that the Community Investment Tax, a 30-year half-
percent increase to help fund a new facility, will "fail by at
least 10 percentage points." Included in the lease is a
provision that if a Malcolm Glazer sells the Bucs, the lease
applies to the new owner (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 8/30).
