STADIUM NOTES

     United Supermarkets announced a $10M commitment to the
proposed new arena on the campus of Texas Tech, which will be
known as The United Spirit Arena (Texas Tech University).  ...A
front page story in the DALLAS MORNING NEWS reported the city of
Dallas is alone "in the running" for a new arena to house the NBA
Mavericks and NHL Stars as Irving and Arlington are not
"campaigning" for a new arena while their city officials were
said to be "waiting to see what happens in Dallas" (DALLAS
MORNING NEWS, 8/27)....Core States Center is offering the
opportunity to rent luxury suites for a single night for $2500 to
boost sales.  A "disappointing" 85% of the 126 suites, which rent
for $125-155,000 per year, have been snapped up (PHILADELPHIA
DAILY NEWS, 8/28).
