VIRGINIA BASEBALL: ONE EYE ON HOUSTON AND ONE ON PIRATES

While the Astros have been the main focus for Virginia
Baseball, the WASHINGTON TIMES' Thom Loverro reports "the Pirates
might soon wind up available for purchase and ripe for relocation
again." Sources tell Loverro because Pirates ownership "seems
to be coming apart," the team "could go on the market" by the
World Series. Despite investors pulling out and losses that
could hit $15M, Pirates Owner Kevin McClatchy insists his
ownership group is not "breaking apart." If Virginia Baseball
gets a team, it would have to be "no later than" November to able
to play at RFK Stadium in '97 (WASHINGTON TIMES, 8/21).
