IT IS NO LONGER MILLER TIME FOR DA' BEARS

In what local media officials call a "surprising move,"
Miller Brewing is dropping its local TV sponsorship of the Bears,
which includes preseason games and sponsorship of Dave
Wannstedt's weekly show, according to the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES.
Miller's Bears spending is "considered to be" $1-2M in the
Chicago market. Though "considered small" when compared to other
sponsorships, including Miller's NFL sponsorship, Miller's
decision to end local TV sponsorship in its biggest market has
"raised more than a few eyebrows." Miller said the decision will
allow them to focus on its national NFL push. The brewer will
also continue local Bears-based bar and store promos for its
brand. A company spokesperson said Miller has "no plans" to end
local sponsorships of the White Sox, Bulls or Blackhawks.
Insiders said Anheuser-Busch probably will fill the space vacated
by Miller, but an A-B spokesperson declined to comment (Jim Kirk,
CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 8/19).
