ESPN/CHILTON SPORTS POLL: JACKIE'S POST- ATLANTA JUMP

     Asked of sports fans age 12 and older from July 2 through
August 5, 1996.  Each month, ESPN/Chilton Sports poll tracks
favorite male and female athletes and athletes you would choose
for endorsements.
     -- JACKIE JOYNER KERSEE has alternated between the No. 1 and
No. 2 position.  This month, she moved back into 1st place with
5.7%. DOMINIQUE DAWES made her first appearance on the list to
take the No. 3 slot at 2.2%.
     -- For men, the winner for July was MUHAMMAD ALI. Ali
normally shows up around 165+ in the rankings.  This July he made
the Top 20.
     --  For endorsement picks, the Olympic winners are JACKIE
JOYNER KERSEE (24th), MICHAEL JOHNSON (27TH) and DAN JANSEN
(27TH) (THE DAILY).
