PACKERS SEARCHING FOR MORE GREENBACKS

The Packers efforts to generate more revenue is examined by
Bob McGinn of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. Part of the plan
is a new exclusive deal with Miller Brewing, who own exclusive
rights for beer signage in Lambeau Field. Packers President Bob
Harlan: "We had never really gotten Miller to step forward and be
a player. ... This year it is." The Packers are discussing
selling tickets to their training camp practices and selling ad
rights on the roof of their practice facility but not their home
field. Harlan noted the team's history, adding "There are old-
time people who have been hooked on this organization for years
and years. You have to treat them gently." Nike will be
erecting ads in Lambeau Field now that the Packers are switching
to Nike uniforms and apparel, which will be sold in the Packer
Pro Shop. Harlan believes the team will make $3M in revenue in
'96 between the retail store and marketing (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL
SENTINEL, 8/12).
