SALE OF POPCORN AND HOT DOGS TO HOLD UP BUCS LEASE?

The Bucs have submitted a written response to a Tampa
Stadium Authority lease offered last month on a new facility,
according to Joe Henderson of the TAMPA TRIBUNE. One area in
which the team differs with TSA is with regard to concessions.
In its proposal, the Bucs request the right to choose the
concessionaire for all stadium events and to set the price for
food and beverages. The TSA plan calls for both sides to jointly
choose the concessionaire. Also, in a "new twist," the Bucs have
offered to pay the costs of moving the press box to the roof of
the stadium in order to build more luxury suites. Other items: a
request to eliminate a clause proposed by the TSA requiring the
team to pay costs associated with changing the stadium name; and
the right to approve and review all stadium plans. The Bucs also
do not want to pay additional money from club seat revenue to the
TSA. Club seating is considered a "key element" and the extra
money generated is figured into the Bucs proposed annual $3.5M
payment (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 8/15).
