NO CINERGY IN CINCINNATI? BENGALS SAY WHOA

A potential five-year deal between Hamilton County and Cinergy Corp. to rename Riverfront Stadium as Cinergy Field has "stalled" because of "stalemated" lease negotiations for a proposed new Bengals stadium, according to the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER. Geoff Hobson cites sources who say Cinergy is "hesitant" about signing on because the Bengals will not use "Cinergy Field" on tickets, p.r. material or broadcasts until a memorandum of understanding is reached with the county on the new facility (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 8/13). Riverfront Stadium is expected to be transferred from the city to Hamilton County in December. However, the deal with Cinergy is thought to be separate from a future naming-rights package for the planned new facilities for the Reds and Bengals (Geoff Hobson, CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 8/12).
