MEDIA NOTES

     Fox Sports is producing two one-hour NFL preseason specials
for later this month.  NFL All-Access is hosted by Pam Oliver and
will air Saturday, August 24 at 4:00pm.  The second, a '96-97 NFL
preview show, hosted by James Brown, airs Sunday, August 31 (Fox
Sports)....Michael Aresco has been named VP/Programming at CBS
Sports.  Aresco will be responsible from managing CBS Sports
acquisitions, strategic planning and scheduling.  He will report
directly to CBS Sports President David Kenin.  Aresco comes from
ESPN, where he was Dir of College Programming since '95 (CBS
Sports).... Pilson Communication's Neal Pilson notes CBS' recent
loss of the Bowl Alliance to ABC "may make CBS a tougher
competitor in its efforts to get a piece of the NFL."  Pilson,
former CBS Sports President, said CBS might try to beat out ABC
for "Monday Night Football" (ELECTRONIC MEDIA, 7/29 issue)....
ESPN's Chris Berman will replace Brent Musberger as halftime host
on ABC's "Monday Night Football" (USA TODAY, 7/31).
