     SI's OLYMPIC DAILY notes "zero" Izzy sightings since the
start of the Games.  ACOG officials maintain the mascot is "out
and around," but SI maintains "he hasn't been much of either" (SI
OLYMPIC DAILY, 7/24)....The DETROIT NEWS and WASHINGTON POST both
profile the debut of beach volleyball at the Games.  The NEWS'
Tom Wojnowski calls the sport "here to stay" (DETROIT NEWS,
7/24)....NBC reports more than 7.3 million hits on its Olympic
Web site since the start of the Games, already surpassing the
performance of their successful "Superbowl.com" (THE
DAILY)....The WALL STREET JOURNAL profiles ACOG COO A.D. Frazier,
who reports he hasn't "slept much" since the start of the Games.
Frazier is working the details of transportation and technology
snafus, although he remains "upbeat" (Glenn Ruffenach, WALL
STREET JOURNAL, 7/24)....The upset win of Japan's soccer team
over Brazil, combined with the Japan Broadcasting Corp.'s 269
hours of high-resolution coverage, has boosted HDTV sales there
(FINANCIAL TIMES, 7/24)....The Australian women's basketball team
sports form-fitting, one-piece lycra uniforms which they credit
for helping get their sport attention back home (USA TODAY,
7/24)....CNN's Dennis Michaels reviewed the five Official Olympic
music releases available at the Games, noting that each is "going
for platinum" in Atlanta ("Showbiz Tonight," 7/23).
