IN OAKLAND: DRIBBLERS ON THE ROOF

     In a deal to refurbish Oakland Arena, the Warriors will hold
practices on the roof of the Oakland Convention Center parking
facility.  Renee Koury of the SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS notes the
team hopes to begin play in the $6M indoor facility by the '97
season.  Team administrative offices will also occupy the top
floor of the parking structure.  The project's final sum
increased by $10M to $140M in publicly financed bonds because
banks asked Alameda County to generate a larger contingency fund
to offset potentially greater interest costs (SAN JOSE MERCURY
NEWS, 7/18).
