WEB SITE OF THE WEEK: MLS IS WORTH ITS WAIT IN GOALS

The MLS only recently unveiled its official Web site at
http://www.mlsnet.com, but for surfing soccer fans, it may be
worth the wait. The site combines sharp graphics and photos with
information varying from TV schedules to players' Olympic
scrapbooks. There is also a helpful guide for first-time users.
The "Highlights" section offers game summaries and updated press
releases from each of the teams, but the real eyecatchers are the
video clips -- play of the week, player of the week -- including
game footage. New fans can get acquainted with MLS through
"Rules and Regulations," which contains a glossary of terms, from
Boots (another name for cleats) to Nutmeg (a pass between a
defender's legs). In "Online," fans can send e-mail to their
favorite team or to other MLS fans. In addition, each team will
have its own chat sessions and organized sessions with MLS stars
are in the works. Aspiring MLS players can plug into "Kidzone"
for tips from coaches and players, as well as a guide to area
camps. And "Gear" enables fans to purchase accessories
unavailable to the public (THE DAILY).
