STADIUM NOTES

     The Lions have considered removing the Silverdome roof as
one option in deciding whether to stay in Pontiac or move
downtown (DETROIT NEWS, 7/14)....Miami Sports and Exhibition
Authority Chair Joe Carollo says the Panthers will not be evicted
from Miami Arena at midnight Monday, contrary to a threat made by
Authority attorney Joseph Portuondo last week.  Carollo did note
that MSEA has the right to reject the signed lease negotiated in
May between the team and arena manager Leisure Management (MIAMI
HERALD, 7/13)....   The bill by U.S. Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan
(D-NY) to eliminate federal tax breaks for new pro sports arenas
has drawn a "critical" reaction from New York city hall.  John
Dyson, Chair of Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's Council of Economic
Advisers, who is leading efforts for a new Yankees stadium on
Manhattan's West Side:  "We have communicated to the Senator that
this is not at all helpful" (N.Y. TIMES, 7/14).
