BASEBALL ONLINE NEWS & NOTES: CAN'T ESCAPE MINDSCAPE

Mindscape Inc. of Novato, CA launched "Total Baseball
Online" which the S.F. CHRONICLE's Jon Schwartz describes as a
"veritable cornucopia of stats, tidbits and trivia guaranteed to
whet the appetite of the most rabid baseball fan." Located at
totalbaseball.com, the site has statistics from 14,500 past and
present players as well as bios, interviews and photos of the
game's greatest players and box scores from every World Series
and All-Star Game. Total Baseball also allows browsers to build
their own All-Time Dream Team in addition to several chat rooms.
Thus far, only the Yankees, Indians, Braves and Dodgers have
their own sites but Mindscape Exec VP/GM Mark Nieker said all 28
clubs should have sites by '97. The company will add three sites
in September -- a Giants site, and special pages for MLB legends
and the World Series (S.F. CHRONICLE, 7/9).
SURF WITH JAY: Starting today Mariners' radio game
broadcasts on KIRO-710 AM can be heard at http://espnet.
sportszone.com or http://www.mariners .org (Mariners).
NET GAIN: BASEBALL AMERICA's Will Lingo looks at the
"explosion" of baseball sites and gives search techniques while
