U.S. Customs agents, together with representatives from
Reebok Int'l, have thwarted one of the "most significant"
international counterfeit footwear operations in the world,
according to a statement from Reebok. Last month, four
individuals from New York, Texas and Korea were arrested in Las
Vegas and San Antonio. They face a variety of charges, including
smuggling counterfeit Reebok brand footwear. The case is being
brought by U.S. Customs and the U.S. Attorney's Office in San
Antonio. Law enforcement officials in Korea have also seized
over 25,000 pairs of imitation branded footwear in two separate
raids. The counterfeit investigation was spearheaded by
Charlotte, NC-based Colt Investigations upon their discovery of
the ring (Reebok).
IT'S HYDRO-MATIC! Reebok has introduced a new "moisture
management and thermo-regulation" fabric called "Hydromove." The
company claims the technology actually transports moisture away
from the skin at an accelerated rate. Hydromove will be
available Spring '97 in running and tennis apparel, as well as
core apparel (Reebok).
