USOC MEMBERS NOMINATE MICHAEL LENARD FOR PRESIDENT

     Current USOC VP Michael Lenard has been nominated by 15
organizations represented on the USOC Board to become USOC
President from '97-2000.  He has accepted the nomination and will
be on the ballot opposite William Hybl for the USOC Board's
October 27 election of officers in Indianapolis.  Lenard is in
his second term as VP and is also Managing Director and Counselor
of William E. Simon & Sons, a merchant bank with offices in L.A.,
NJ and Hong Kong (USOC).  Hybl said he welcomes the competition,
"If it is done in a positive and constructive way, the
competition could be helpful to the Olympic Committee" (Mike
Spence, Colorado Springs GAZETTE TELEGRAPH, 6/26).
