The National Association for Promotional and Advertising
Allowances, Inc., awarded Russell Athletic with two top honors at
its annual awards ceremony held recently in San Diego. Russell
was presented awards in the categories of outdoor billboards and
sales promotion. The competition is solely open to ad campaigns
and promotions funded by co-op budgets. The winning "Sign-up
America" promotion was created to enhance Russell's identity
within the retail market by sponsoring a contest among stores
that merchandise Russell products. Each entry was judged on the
creativity used in presentation of product and the location of
Russell Athletic fixtures within each store. Russell Athletic
and Smith Brothers Sporting Goods of Hattiesburg, MS, joined
together with Kemp/York Outside Advertising of Columbus, MS, to
produce the award winning outdoor billboard entitled "28 colors
to break a sweat in." The ad displayed the 28 colors available
in fleece basics (Russell Athletic).
