     TED TURNER purchased the 578,000-acre Vermejo Park Ranch
from Pennzoil.  The land, which straddles the NM and CO borders,
contains 30 miles of streams and 22 lakes (HOUSTON CHRONICLE,
6/20)....ANDRE AGASSI is profiled by David Granger in GQ. Granger
notes Nike has made Agassi the "focus of its Olympic tennis ad
blitz" (GQ, 7/96).. ...Avalanche GM PIERRE LACROIX is profiled in
THE SPORTING NEWS.  Lacroix, on the team's move from Quebec to
Denver:  "There was a lot of unrest in the front office, but I
had a job to do, whether we played in Quebec City or Fin Flon"
(TSN, 6/24)....LAWRENCE PHILLIPS retained ROBERT SHAPIRO to
represent him on drunk driving charges (Mult., 6/21).
