SWINGING AWAY: GOLF AND TENNIS NEWS AND NOTES

     Charlotte, NC-based FN Thompson Co. announced it has been
awarded the $30M construction contract for the World Golf Hall of
Fame to be located at the World Golf Village in St. Johns County,
FL.  The project is scheduled to begin this summer and has an
anticipated completion date of early '98 (FN Thompson)....Paul
Harber notes in the BOSTON GLOBE that the PGA Tour stop at
Pleasant Valley, MA has "had its sponsorship situation settled."
Title sponsor CVS, a pharmacy company, is "secured for the next
few years," and presenting sponsor Buick, "has signed on for
another year" (BOSTON GLOBE, 6/20)....The Baltimore SUN's Bill
Glauber looks at Wimbledon and notes local residents can make "a
lot of money" by renting their homes to the likes of Boris Becker
and Monica Seles, or they can allow vendors to "take over" their
driveways (Baltimore SUN, 6/21)....USA TODAY examines the top
U.S. tennis resorts: 1) Sea Pines Plantation, Hilton Head, SC; 2)
