HASBRO AND ACTION PERFORMANCE TEAM UP FOR NASCAR PRODUCTS

     Hasbro and Action Performance Companies yesterday launched
an exclusive alliance to market die cast vehicles and NASCAR
related items in the mass market.  The deal includes products
with NASCAR's Jeff Gordon, and NHRA Funny Car Champion John
Force.  It also marks Hasbro's and Action Performance's first
foray into the die cast racing vehicles' mass market. Another
product line -- Action Racer -- will feature Dale Earnhardt,
Steve Grissom, Dale Jarrett, Gordon, and other top NASCAR
drivers.  Hasbro and Action will develop these new lines jointly,
with Hasbro providing marketing and manufacturing expertise.  The
items are scheduled to retail January '97 (Action Performance).
The die-cast racing-car market is currently "dominated" by Mattel
Inc.'s Hot Wheels line and Tyco Toys Inc.'s Matchbox line
(PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 6/21).
