MLBPA ANNOUNCES FORMATION OF CHARITABLE FOUNDATION

     The MLBPA announce today the creation of the first
charitable foundation established and operated entirely by
professional athletes.  Supported by the contributions from 100%
of the MLBPA's membership, the "Players Trust for Children" is a
501(c)(3) charitable foundation established to benefit children.
Nearly $1M has already been raised for the Trust.  The Trust's
three trustees are Tom Glavine, David Cone, and MLBPA Exec Dir
Donald Fehr.  Grant decisions will be made by a committee of
players representing each MLB team.  In addition, an honorary
Council of Advisors, made up of prominent members of the
philanthropic, corporate, education, health and baseball
communities, will provide the Trust with advice and counsel
(MLBPA).
