SOURCES INDICATE MAGIC TO OFFER SHAQ FOUR-YEARS, $54.76M

The Magic's "opening offer" to free-agent Shaquille O'Neal
is likely to be a four-year deal starting at $10.2M next season
while totaling $54.76M with an average of $13.69M per season,
according to Larry Guest of the ORLANDO SENTINEL. Sources close
to O'Neal and the Magic confirmed the figures, and Magic Owner
Rich DeVos has indicated a willingness to discuss a six- or
seven-year deal "if it's important to Shaq" and his agent,
Leonard Armato, to ink the NBA's first $100M contract. Guest
writes the numbers are "well-short" of what O'Neal seeks (ORLANDO
SENTINEL, 6/19).
