STADIUM NOTES

     The challenge of creating a retractable canopy that would
not clash with the new Mariners stadium's classic look was solved
by designing it with "lacy steel trusses reminiscent of the
arcing roofs of the turn-of-the century train stations" (TACOMA
NEWS TRIBUNE, 6/18)....The Cleveland City Council wants to change
the city's stadium deal with the NFL to make any development
immediately around the stadium subject to council approval and to
make the team owner pay property taxes on that development.  The
NFL has yet to respond to the request (AP/Mult., 6/19).
