BP OIL LINKS WITH U.S. SOCCER FOR SPONSORSHIP

     BP Oil Co., the world's fourth largest petroleum refining
corporation, has signed a sponsorship agreement with U.S. Soccer
and the U.S. National Soccer Teams.  BP Oil will launch the
partnership with a national retail promotion, supported by
broadcast ads and a point-of-sale campaign.  The campaign,
created by W.B. Doner & Co., Detroit, will feature U.S. Team
member Alexi Lalas in the "BP Super Soccer Ball" promotion that
allows customers who purchase eight gallons of high octane BP
Super 93 gasoline to buy a $5.99 soccer ball.  The ball features
BP Oil and U.S. Soccer logos, as well as the flags of countries
with BP stations.  Doner has also negotiated "significant"
Olympic TV and radio ad schedules in 50 spot markets.  The promo
broke yesterday at more than 7,000 BP locations in the Midwest,
Southeast and Northwest.  Proceeds will help support the U.S.
Soccer teams this summer (W.B. Doner).
