OLYMPIC SPONSORSHIP NEWS AND NOTES: REEBOK'S FAIL PETTIGREW

     During the U.S. Trials' men's 400 meter semifinal, the
insole to runner Antonio Pettigrew's Reebok racing shoe came
loose and "doubled up" causing  Pettigrew to finish fifth, one
spot out of the final.  After the race, he tried to throw the
shoe into a garbage can but missed.  A Reebok official asked a
reporter not to write about the incident, adding, "We don't want
Antonio to lose his sponsorship" (USA TODAY,
6/18)....Kaleidoscope Entertainment, through its People &
Properties sports marketing division, will manage the UAW-GM
Driving the Olympic Spirit Tour (People & Properties).....IBM's
work to provide all the Games' high-tech needs is featured in USA
TODAY.  IBM's Olympic network consists of 7,000 PC's, 2,000 pages
and wireless devices, and 90 industrial strength computers (USA
TODAY, 6/18).... Baylor track coach Clyde Hart on the new U.S.A.
unitard worn by former charge Michael Johnson:  "I think the
U.S.A. insignia is too subtle and the Nike swoosh is too bright.
But that's the point, I guess."  Johnson is wearing the unitard
on the cover of TIME's Special Olympic issue (TIME).
