Gargoyles Performance Eyewear has signed Scottie Pippen to a
six-figure deal through '99 to promote a new sunglasses line,
according to BRANDWEEK. The $95 "Pipps" are scheduled to hit
retail next month. Marketing support includes full-page Sports
Illustrated ads in August and point-of-purchase displays
(BRANDWEEK, 6/17 issue).
HERE'S TO THE WINNERS: Fandemonium, the United Center's in-
arena retail outlet, sold out of World Champion t-shirts last
night "in about 20 minutes." The store will be open for business
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:00am to 4:00pm CDT (CHICAGO
TRIBUNE, 6/17)....Spalding Sports Worldwide and Chicago's Henway
Sports, in conjunction with the NBA, have manufactured 1,000
collectible basketballs commemorating the Bulls' 72-10 season
(Henway). ....Starter, the authentic locker room apparel for the
NBA and NHL, ran a full-page ad in USA TODAY congratulating the
Bulls and Avalanche on their Championships. Sears also ran a
full-page ad for Starter and Logo Athletic Bulls t-shirts and
hats, complete with a 1-800 number for phone orders. Dodge also
ran a two-page ad in USA TODAY congratulating the Avalanche on
