STADIUM NOTES

The Bucs are preparing a campaign to draw voter support for

Bucs' players, turned businessmen who still live in the Tampa
area (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 6/16)....Calling the renaming of Tampa
Stadium "another gaffe" by "timing-impaired" Bucs Owner Malcolm
Glazer, Gary Shelton of the ST. PETE TIMES offers his list of ten
things Glazer can do to help the sales tax pass (ST. PETERSBURG
TIMES, 6/16).... Noting potential lost revenue to the team,
restaurants, hotels and other businesses, a Baltimore SUN
editorial calls a potential one year delay in construction of the
Ravens' stadium "harmful, embarrassing and unnecessary"
(Baltimore SUN, 6/16)....According to a study commissioned by the
Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, gutting the Astrodome and
refitting it as a 68,000-seat, state-of-the-art rodeo and
football facility would cost $212M (FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM,
6/15)....MN Gov. Arne Carlson is working on a financial plan to
help build a new baseball stadium for the Twins, as well as
renovation of the St. Paul Civic Center so that city can get in
position to attract an NHL team (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE,
6/16)....In an attempt to both keep fans cool and allow grass
growth, the Diamondbacks plan to close their dome at 3pm to get
the temp down to 78 degrees by game-time at 7pm (ARIZONA
REPUBLIC, 6/17).
